Jack Newman

Board Member,
Second Round Foundation

Jack Newman brings a lifetime of dedication, leadership, and service to his role on the Second Round Foundation Board of Directors.

Jack’s connection to the Second Round Foundation began with his support of its inaugural golf event in 2023, hosted at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois, where Jack served on the board for 24 years and as president in 2021-2022. His deep commitment to helping young people thrive aligns closely with the Foundation’s mission.

In addition to his work with the Second Round Foundation, Jack serves on the board of the Lauri S. Bauer Foundation for Sudden Loss. This organization supports families and children coping with grief through therapy services, particularly for those unable to afford care. Jack’s passion for creating opportunities for children and young adults shines through in all he does.

Jack’s background in sports and finance reflects a unique combination of discipline, strategy, and vision. As a standout athlete in the 1980s and 1990s, Jack had a distinguished career in professional racquetball, becoming the first freshman to win the NCAA Championship in 1981 and maintaining a top 8 world ranking during his professional career.

After retiring from racquetball in 1994, Jack transitioned into wealth management, earning a degree in finance from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1985. He built a successful career as a wealth manager, co-founding Newman Schimel, which he sold to Kovitz Investment Group in 2023. Now a Principal and Senior Wealth Manager at Kovitz, Jack works closely with high-net-worth families, blending his passion for sports and finance by serving notable NBA players.

Jack’s lifelong dedication to helping others and his belief in the transformative power of mentorship and opportunity make him a valued member of the Second Round Foundation board. His leadership and generosity continue to drive the Foundation’s mission to empower young people and build stronger communities.
