Fueled by a historic gift from the Second Round Foundation, Jalen continues to have a positive impact at Stevenson High School! In early May, his alma mater’s charitable arm, the Stevenson Foundation, invited financially under-resourced students and their families to the first-ever Jalen Brunson Patriot Wellness Family Forum.
The Forum brought together experts and resources that are available at Stevenson and throughout the community. Nearly 100 students and family members learned how nutrition, healthcare, movement, mindfulness, and rest can support success and positively impact their well-being.
Attendees heard from a variety of speakers, sampled healthy breakfast foods, and visited the event Resource Fair. A bilingual, supervised play area made it easier for guests to take full advantage of Forum offerings.
The Stevenson Foundation established the Jalen Brunson Patriot Wellness Initiative (JBPWI) in 2022. The Initiative is designed to support the physical and mental health of financially under-resourced students by ensuring equitable access to whole-family wellness resources.
The Family Forum event is one of the many ways that the JBPWI empowers students and families to prioritize wellness in their lives. Throughout the year, the Initiative provides students with access to high-quality athletic wear, snacks and supplemental groceries, medical supplies and basic care, relaxation tools, and more.
“Our inaugural Forum offered families an inclusive space to foster community and expand their understanding of wellness and related resources,” said Stevenson Foundation Executive Director Linda Knapp. “We are beyond grateful to the Second Round Foundation for their investment and are confident that Jalen’s legacy of leadership, perseverance, and success will continue to inspire students for generations to come!”
