This past season, Second Round Foundation proudly partnered with the Garden of Dreams Foundation and Make-A-Wish to help turn dreams into unforgettable realities for children facing critical illnesses. In what marked his first season fulfilling official Make-A-Wish requests, Jalen personally connected with young fans, offering moments of joy, encouragement, and hope.
“Jalen’s leadership and deep commitment to our Garden of Dreams mission inspires everyone around him,” shared the Garden of Dreams Foundation. “His dedication to bringing joy, light and hope to our children facing adversity is admirable. Jalen is so much more than a star on the court, he’s a real-life superhero and role model. We are honored to have his support in transforming young lives.”
One of those transformative moments came when Kody Miller, a wish kid from Make-A-Wish New York, was surprised with a private meet-and-greet with Jalen and gifted a bag full of Knicks gear. Caleb Sangster, through Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley, had his dream come true with courtside seats and another chance to spend time with Jalen. Jack Sangster, with Make-A-Wish Metro NY, enjoyed a courtside experience and joined Jalen during the Knicks’ starting lineup ceremony.
“There are no words to describe how grateful we are for all that Jalen does for our wish kids,” said Make-A-Wish New York. “He’s a beacon of hope, strength, and perseverance. He brings families closer together and creates cherished memories. The difference he’s made is immeasurable; we all see him as a hero.”
Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley echoed that sentiment: “Jalen’s heartfelt commitment, alongside the generosity of Garden of Dreams, goes far beyond creating memorable moments. They grant wishes that become turning points, offering hope, strength, and joy to children facing critical illnesses. These experiences are powerful reminders that brighter days are ahead.”
Caleb Sangster put it simply: “Meeting Jalen Brunson really impacted me and my life. He made my dream come true and made me feel special. He was kind, nice, and thoughtful. He inspired me to be a better basketball player. He really made my day.”
In addition to the Make-A-Wish activations, the Foundation also supported Garden of Dreams Foundation’s Adopt-A-Family initiative during the holiday season, helping provide gifts, essentials, and joy to families facing hardship.
