As a two-time NBA All-Star and the 36th Captain in Knicks franchise history, Jalen Brunson proves time and again that he’s among the best in the game. But for students at Stevenson High School, he’s not only an elite point guard, he’s also a role model, inspiration, and fellow Patriot. Jalen and the Second Round Foundation’s impact reverberates through the halls of SHS every day.

Nearly a decade after graduating, Jalen remains committed to the health, well-being, and success of students at his alma mater. Proceeds from his annual basketball skills academy support several Jalen Brunson Patriot Pride Scholarships. This past summer, Jalen invited all past recipients to spend time with him and Second Round Foundation Co-Founder, Sandra Brunson, at the inaugural Jalen Brunson Patriot Scholars Reception.

Jalen and the Second Round Foundation also partnered with the Stevenson High School Foundation to establish the Jalen Brunson Patriot Wellness Initiative (JBPWI) in 2022. This ground-breaking Initiative is designed to support the physical and mental well-being of financially under-resourced SHS students by ensuring equitable access to whole-family wellness resources.

The JBPWI has supported more young people than ever before in the first semester of the 2024-25 school year. Nearly 400 students and their families have accessed everything from physicals and first-aid supplies to healthy snacks and groceries to Nikes and athletic wear. These tools allow them to prioritize their health and wellness alongside classmates.
